Job summary

ATI Specialty Materials is hiring an Environmental, Health & Safety Intern to support manufacturing safety initiatives across ATI's sites, including Monroe, NC. You will work with EHS professionals to identify risks, collaborate with plant teams, and help develop practical safety solutions that improve awareness and controls.

You will gain hands-on experience in inspections, risk assessments, and safety communications while exploring AI-enabled safety technologies and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental, Health & Safety, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
• Interest in working in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to identify potential workplace hazards and opportunities for improvement.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with EHS and operations teams.
• Interest in safety technology and innovative approaches to safety communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop and facilitate facility safety inspections to identify hazards and opportunities for improvement.
• Conduct formal task-based risk assessments to evaluate hazards and recommend controls.
• Evaluate AI and similar technology solutions that could improve safety communication, awareness, and engagement.
• Partner with EHS and operations teams to support facility safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
• Document findings and communicate recommendations to appropriate stakeholders.
