Job summary

Shelby County Schools seeks an Environmental Health and Safety Compliance Advisor to oversee occupational health and safety across District facilities, materials, and environments in Tennessee. You will ensure OSHA, CPSC, Head Start, and DHS/TDOE compliance and maintain required documentation.

The role involves coordinating monitoring events, preparing reports, and delivering safety trainings while collaborating with partnering Head Start teams to uphold standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management or Public Health or related field with four years of related experience required.
• Degree equivalency allows 4 years of education to count toward experience; 8 years total optional.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate compliance monitoring to ensure facility, playground, materials and equipment safety.
• Inspect facilities for OSHA, CPSC, and Head Start health and safety compliance.
• Plan and organize monitoring events and track follow-up actions.
• Prepare compliance reports for executive leadership.
• Collaborate with Head Start safety teams to meet federal requirements.
• Inspect environments to ensure cleanliness, accessibility and age-appropriate materials.
• Deliver safety trainings and update awareness materials as required.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Risk Management

Bachelor's degree in Public Health or related field

4+ years of related experience (or 8 years combined with education)
