Job description

The Senior Manager of EH&S Compliance and Training is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and oversight of enterprise-wide Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) training programs and compliance initiatives. This role ensures that all EH&S programs align with regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry best practices while fostering a culture of safety and compliance across the organization.

  • Develop, implement, and manage EH&S training strategies, programs, and materials tailored to meet the needs of diverse employee groups.
  • Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA) as well as company standards.
  • Monitor and audit EH&S programs and training effectiveness; recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with operations, HR, and leadership teams to ensure safety and compliance programs are embedded into daily operations.
  • Lead compliance assessments, internal audits, and regulatory inspections, ensuring timely resolution of findings.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and industry trends; adjust programs accordingly.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to EH&S training and compliance performance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop EH&S training staff or specialists.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts for training systems, compliance tools, and consulting support.
  • Prepare and present compliance reports, dashboards, and updates to senior leadership.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make sound recommendations.
  • Experience managing compliance audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS), compliance tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Education
  • High school degree or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree or other safety certification preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Office-based with periodic site visits to operations, terminals, or field locations.
  • Requires up to 25% travel, depending on business needs.
  • Exposure to field environments including industrial, transportation, and construction settings.
  • Required to have/carry a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card when on maritime facilities and vessels. Otherwise, an escort with a valid TWIC card is required.
