Job summary

UT Health Sciences in Memphis is seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to implement and manage health, safety, and environmental programs. You will support facilities employees, university staff, students and visitors by promoting regulatory compliance and reducing liability from injuries.

Under supervision of the Safety Officer, you will coordinate inspections, training, incident investigations, and emergency response planning, ensuring safe operations across campus facilities and activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in one of the Sciences or related field (4 years of related work experience acceptable)
• Knowledge of health, safety, environmental management and emergency planning is preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and ability to perform data review and reporting

Responsibilities

• Promote compliance with health and safety regulations via identification and abatement of hazards
• Prepare and review health and safety documentation such as chemical inventories and training records
• Evaluate engineering controls, PPE selection, and worker exposure to hazards
• Investigate incidents via root-cause analysis and coordinate contractor efforts
• Provide health and safety training and respond to hazardous material emergencies
