Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is seeking an EHS Assistant to lead safety, environmental, and regulatory activities within the facility. You will support a proactive safety culture, ensure OSHA and EPA compliance, and help drive operational excellence.

You will collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and HR to implement improvements, maintain permits, and coordinate drills while promoting a zero-injury mindset across the plant.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering or related discipline.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook; strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist leadership with plant safety, environmental and risk-management programs.
• Drive a zero-injury culture through employee engagement, training and accountability.
• Assist with OSHA compliance, inspections, recordkeeping and corrective actions.
• Conduct incident investigations and root-cause analyses.
• Maintain environmental permits and programs (air, water, waste, recycling).
• Support emergency response plans and coordinate drills.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and HR on improvements.
• Support capital projects and ensure EHS requirements are met.
