Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is seeking a full-time Environmental Engineer to advance safety, environmental, and regulatory programs across our mills. The role focuses on maintaining compliance, managing records, and supporting continuous improvement in environmental performance.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical, environmental, or civil engineering, 0–4 years of experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, environmental, civil engineering or related fields.
• 0-4 years of experience in process engineering or environmental engineering.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must have valid driver's license.
• Experience using AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Project.

Responsibilities

• Work safely and support mill safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory expectations across assigned environmental programs.
• Maintain compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations, permits, reporting requirements, and corporate standards.
• Manage environmental programs, procedures, records, audits, inspections, and agency reporting for areas such as air, wastewater treatment, land application, and chemical management.
• Evaluate mill systems, process changes, capital projects, and new equipment installations to ensure environmental requirements are addressed and compliance risks are mitigated.
• Identify environmental issues, develop corrective actions, troubleshoot problems, and follow through with operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Support environmental training, compliance procedures, project planning, and continuous improvement efforts that reduce risk, improve performance, and support mill objectives.
• Additional duties as assigned by management.
