Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is seeking an Environmental Engineer to support environmental programs across our facilities. You will help ensure regulatory compliance, manage audits and reporting, and partner with operations and engineering to drive environmental improvements.

The role emphasizes safety, process optimization, and collaboration with cross-functional teams while progressing environmental initiatives and training across sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, environmental, civil engineering or related field.
• 0-4 years of experience in process engineering or environmental engineering.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. and must have a valid driver's license.
• Experience using AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Project.

Responsibilities

• Work safely and support mill safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory expectations across assigned environmental programs.
• Maintain compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations, permits, reporting requirements, and corporate standards.
• Manage environmental programs, procedures, records, audits, inspections, and agency reporting for areas such as air, wastewater treatment, land application, and chemical management.
• Evaluate mill systems, process changes, capital projects, and new equipment installations to ensure environmental requirements are addressed and compliance risks are mitigated.
• Identify environmental issues, develop corrective actions, troubleshoot problems, and follow through with operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
