Job summary

Center for Elders’ Independence in Oakland, CA is seeking a Health Information Coordinator to manage health information records, ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and HIPAA/compliance with CEI policies. You will work with the care team to maintain data integrity.

Responsibilities include updating the EHR, handling external records, and supporting audits while protecting patient privacy. A minimum of 2 years in medical records and RHIT/RHIA or HIM degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in medical records or related role.
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR).
• Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
• Bonus: RHIT/RHIA or HIM degree/certification.

Responsibilities

• Enter and update records in EHR, including POLST.
• Scan and file documents; ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Process outside medical records and coordinate with providers.
• Support CMS/audit readiness and maintain privacy standards.
