Job summary

EDUStaff is seeking a Floating Substitute in Muskegon, Michigan for the 2026/2027 academic year. The role covers a rotating schedule across several schools with a daily rate of $175.

The candidate will move between buildings and must have at least 60 college credit hours and be eligible for a Michigan Substitute Permit. Preferred candidates include a Bachelor’s degree in education and prior classroom experience.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 60 college credit hours.
• Eligible for Michigan Substitute Permit.
• Criminal history background check required.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
• Previous classroom experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans.
• Creates a classroom conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity.
• Maintains a safe and orderly environment.
• Maintains school and classroom procedures as assigned.
• Maintains a professional appearance as an example to students.
• Remains at school the entire day unless instructed otherwise by the principal.
• Takes precautions to protect students and school property.
• Maintains reasonable conduct rules to encourage self-discipline.
• Communicates effectively with parents when needed.
• Meets assigned classes at designated locations and times.
• Exhibits regular and reliable attendance as an essential job function.
• Completes other duties as assigned.

Monday: Oakview Elementary (8:20am-3:50pm)

Tuesday: Marquette Elementary (8:20am-3:50pm)

Wednesday: Charles Hackley Middle School (7:35am-2:56pm)

Thursday: Bunker Elementary (8:20am-3:50pm)

Friday: Muskegon High School (7:35am-2:56pm)

Minimum Requirements:

Must have a minimum of 60 college credit hours.

Must have reliable transportation – Employee will be moving between buildings throughout the work week.

Eligible for a Michigan Substitute Permit

Criminal history records background check

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in education

Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
