Job summary

Muskegon Public Schools is seeking a Floating Substitute for the 2026/2027 academic year to cover classrooms across Oakview Elementary, Marquette Elementary, Charles Hackley Middle School, Bunker Elementary, and Muskegon High School. The role pays $175.00 per day and requires travel between buildings during the week.

Responsibilities include delivering instruction per lesson plans, maintaining a safe learning environment, and communicating with parents as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 60 college credit hours.
• Reliable transportation – moving between buildings throughout the week.
• Eligible for a Michigan Substitute Permit
• Criminal history records background check

Responsibilities

• Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans.
• Creates a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Maintains a safe and orderly environment.
• Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures.
• Maintains a professional appearance as an example to students.
• Remains at school the entire school day, unless instructed to leave by principal.
• Protects students, equipment, materials and facilities.
• Maintains reasonable rules of conduct and encourages self-discipline.
• Communicates effectively with parents when needed.
• Meets and instructs assigned classes at designated locations and times.
• Regular and reliable attendance is essential.
• Completes other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Must have a minimum of 60 college credit hours.
• Must have reliable transportation – Employee will be moving between buildings throughout the work week.
