Job summary

Genesee Lake School (MyPath company) seeks an instructional aide to support students with special needs, follow a school schedule, and participate in a training program to build skills for a career as an employee-owner.

You will work under the Education/Learning Coordinator, collaborate with teachers, and engage students in active learning while promoting safety and positive behavior in a therapeutic educational setting.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
• At least one year of experience working with special needs students preferred.
• Eligible for Instructional Aide license through the Wisconsin DPI.
• Demonstrated good judgment and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and work well solo or in a team.
• Effective collaboration with teachers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Meet with the classroom teacher or supervisor to discuss daily activities, academics, behaviors, social and medical concerns related to students.
• Complete and submit paperwork, lesson plans, instructional data, and behavior data in a timely fashion as scheduled per student.
• Use agency-approved treatment techniques while supervising and educating students.
• Demonstrate familiarity with GLS behavior management and education techniques.
• Act as a role model and set an appropriate example for students, staff, and the community.
• Implement students’ program under teacher direction using curriculum resources.
• Engage students in active learning.
• Provide constructive feedback to staff in the classroom setting.
