Job summary

Manchester University is seeking a Technology Support Specialist who is passionate about helping faculty succeed and enhancing the student learning experience through technology. This role focuses on Canvas, instructional technologies, and emerging educational tools to improve teaching and learning outcomes.

The successful candidate will administer Canvas and related platforms, provide training and technical support to faculty and staff, and collaborate with campus partners to enhance teaching

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Educational Technology, IT, Instructional Design, or related field.
• Minimum of two years supporting instructional/educational technologies in higher education.
• Familiarity with UDL, Quality Matters, WCAG and accessibility best practices preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience with Blackboard and Canvas LMS is strongly preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Commitment to continuous learning and growth.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support Canvas LMS and related instructional technology platforms.
• Provide training and technical support to faculty and staff.
• Support learning technology integrations (LTIs) and related systems.
• Collaborate with faculty to enhance teaching effectiveness and student engagement.
• Troubleshoot technology issues and propose practical solutions.
• Evaluate and support emerging educational technologies, including AI tools.
• Develop and improve faculty training materials and processes.
• Support accessibility and quality standards in digital learning.
• Partner with IT staff, vendors, and stakeholders on initiatives.
