Job summary

EDGE - Construction Engineering program in Staunton, VA seeks entry-level engineers to participate in a 15–24 month development experience within VDOT. The program rotates through construction, environmental, maintenance, materials and planning areas to build broad technical and leadership skills.

Successful candidates will complete their Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and pursue an Engineering in Training designation while transitioning to permanent engineering roles with competitive pay

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related ABET-accredited program.
• Knowledge of highway construction principles and materials.
• Ability to pass the FE exam and obtain EIT within 12 months.
• Familiarity with roadway design criteria and project development processes.

• Apply engineering knowledge to complete projects and tasks.
• Support construction, environmental, and maintenance activities across field and office sites.
• Demonstrate general knowledge of roadway design and traffic considerations.
