Job summary

VDOT's EDGE Program offers a 15- to 24-month development track for entry-level Civil Engineers, exposing you to Location & Design, Materials, Residency Operations, Construction, Structure and Bridge, among other areas.

Participants gain on-the-job experience, with leadership and technical development, and may be placed into classified positions relevant to career objectives after completing the program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or ABET-accredited program.
• FE exam and EIT designation within 12 months of employment.
• Must be at least 18 years old before start date.
• Knowledge of construction and maintenance contract policies and procedures.
• Desirable combination of training, experience in Civil Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Analyze engineering data and prepare clear reports and recommendations.
• Communicate with internal staff, local government, consultants and the public.
• Coordinate and manage engineering projects with defined scope and timelines.
• Provide engineering support and consultation for program areas.
• Participate in design and construction activities and ensure compliance with standards.
