VDOT’s EDGE program is a 15–24 month engineer development initiative designed for new graduates to rotate through construction engineering roles, building full-spectrum technical and leadership competencies. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Management, or related ABET-accredited program by start of employment.
• Familiarity with highway construction principles and roadway design criteria.

Responsibilities

• Support entry-level construction engineering roles within the EDGE program.
• Assist with field inspections, project documentation, and design activities across construction, environmental, maintenance, materials, planning, and roadway disciplines.
• Develop foundational knowledge in structural/bridge concepts and traffic engineering within transportation projects.
