Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) seeks entry-level engineers for its EDGE - Civil Engineering program in Mechanicsville, VA. The 15–24 month development program rotates through civil engineering disciplines, exposing you to the full spectrum of engineering roles while building leadership and technical skills.

Upon completion, EDGE associates are placed into classified roles aligned with career objectives and agency needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or related degree from an ABET program by the start of employment.
• FE exam and EIT designation within 12 months of employment allowed.
• Ability to apply engineering principles to complete projects and tasks.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the EDGE program for Civil Engineers.
• Apply engineering studies as a VDOT engineer.
• Develop technical analyses, reports and recommendations.
• Communicate with stakeholders and manage assigned projects to meet timelines.
• Assist in multiple disciplines including Location and Design, Materials, Residency Operations, Construction, Structure and Bridge, Maintenance, Environmental, Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering Operations.
