Job summary

Universal Health Services’ Temecula Valley Hospital is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to ensure oxygen tanks are maintained on every gurney and to stock rooms with bedside supplies and linens. The ED Tech will transport patients, assist RNs and physicians, and support clerical tasks as directed by the Clinical Supervisor.

Qualifications

• EMT, CNA, or Medical Assistant (Required).
• BLS (Issued by American Heart Association) (Required).
• Basic dysrhythmia certification within 6 months of hire.
• Current Phlebotomy certification – State of California preferred.
• CPI Certification obtained within first 90 days of employment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Telephone, typing, and filing skills.
• Basic computer systems.
• Basic knowledge of nursing care terminology and functions.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all oxygen tanks are full and available on each gurney; stock rooms with bedside supplies and linens.
• Transport patients to ancillary departments as needed; assist RNs and physicians/PAs with assessments, examinations, and treatments as directed.
• Assist unit clerk with clerical duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor.
• Report and document in the ED information system data regarding patient care performed (vital signs, bedside care, observations).
• Provide telephone services: answer/direct calls, give information, page physicians, overhead paging of safety codes, and return calls.
• Notify ancillary departments of patient services needs in a timely and appropriate manner.
