Job summary

Temecula Valley Hospital is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to support patient care in a fast-paced ED. You will ensure oxygen tanks and bedside supplies, transport patients, and assist nurses and physicians with assessments and treatments.

Strong communication and clerical skills are essential. Required EMT/CNA/Medical Assistant credentials, BLS certification by AHA, and timely completion of dysrhythmia, phlebotomy (CA), and CPI certifications.

Qualifications

• EMT, CNA, or Medical Assistant required.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association required.
• Basic dysrhythmia certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Current Phlebotomy certification – State of California preferred.
• CPI certification obtained within first 90 days of employment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Telephone, typing, and filing skills.
• Basic computer systems knowledge.
• Basic knowledge of nursing care terminology and functions.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to ancillary departments as needed.
• Assists RNs and physicians/PAs with assessments, examinations, and treatments as directed.
• Assists the unit clerk with clerical duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor.
• Reports and documents in the ED information system for patient care (vital signs, bedside care, observations).
• Provides telephone services, including answering/directing calls, paging physicians, and notifying departments of patient service needs.
