Job summary

MaineGeneral Health is seeking an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) to join our ED teams at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta and the Thayer Center for Health in Waterville. The ED Tech supports nurses and providers, assists with patient care, and helps ensure timely, safe, and compassionate care in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll be cross-trained at both campuses with shifts assigned based on departmental needs. Schedule is 36 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Must have CNA or EMT license as stated by Maine regulations.
• Experience in ED, acute-care, medical-surgical, or hospital setting preferred.
• Strong communication, teamwork and organizational skills.
• Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while ensuring patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic patient care activities within scope of practice and support emotional and physical needs.
• Greet patients/visitors and handle calls, paging, and announcements as needed.
• Perform ECGs, splinting, and specimen collection as delegated.
• Keep unit and patient rooms stocked, clean, and orderly.
