Job summary

Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach, Virginia, is hiring an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) for a full-time evening 36-hour schedule (3P-3A). The ED Tech assists physicians, nurses and advanced practitioners in care plans and performs procedures under supervision, including IV starts, EKGs and point-of-care tests.

Qualifications include HS diploma or equivalent and EMT-B certification at hire; current students in clinical programs will be considered, with prior Sentara ED

Qualifications

  • EMT-B certification required at time of hire.
  • Current students in clinical programs may apply.
  • Past Sentara ED tech experience considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians, practitioners or nurses in implementing care plans.
  • Perform starting IVs, EKGs, point-of-care testing and blood cultures.
  • Monitor vital signs and assist with patient prioritization and stocking.

An ED Tech Assists the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse in implementing plans of care for emergency/minor emergency care patients. Performs patient procedures and treatments under the supervision of the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse. In this role, you are an integral part of the Emergency Department Team. Education

HS Diploma or Equivalent

Job Requirements/Certifications
  • Required: Clinical - <1 year
  • Required: EMT-B with state or national certification at time of hire OR Successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School, qualified MMAC candidates OR.
  • Current students enrolled in a clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy). Candidates with prior employment in the Sentara ED tech job code in the past two years will also be considered in lieu of the 3 criteria above.
