Job summary

Baptist Health System, Inc. is seeking a part-time Nursing Assistant II/ED Technician for the Emergency Department in Lexington, KY. This third shift position supports patient care under the direction of the ED Registered Nurse.

The role emphasizes accurate specimen handling, data entry, and coordination of patient flow, with a focus on high-quality care and efficient ED operations. CNA certification and BLS are required or must be obtained shortly after hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or completion of first year clinical nursing courses with validation.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; must obtain within 30 days of hire if not already certified.
• Previous laboratory or customer service experience preferred.
• Data entry and computer experience and/or phlebotomy, point of care testing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Functions within the multidisciplinary ED team under the supervision of the ED RN.
• Demonstrates excellent communication and coordination of patient care/department flow.
• Maintains knowledge of appropriate computer functions and systems for duties.
• Keeps work area clean and organized to ensure efficient operation.

An Emergency department (ED) that provides 24-hour emergency care to patients who need urgent medical attention for severe injuries or illness.

Description:

• The Nursing Assistant II (Emergency Department Technician) functions within the multidisciplinary team that cares for the ED patient under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse.
• Demonstrates excellent communication and coordination of patient care/department flow.
• Working knowledge of appropriate computer functions and systems for assigned duties.
• Maintains work area to ensure efficient operation and workflow.
• Collects, process, transports and analyzes specimens according to approved standards of testing per laboratory policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates proficiency in patient care, according to hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or successful completion of first year clinical classes in nursing school and validation of a clinical consistent with level of education.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
• Previous laboratory or customer service experience preferred.
• Data entry and computer experience and /or phlebotomy, point of care testing experience preferred.
