Job summary

Baptist Health in Lexington, KY is hiring a part-time Nursing Assistant II (Emergency Department Technician) for the 11a–11p shift in the ED. You will work under the supervision of the ED Registered Nurse to support patient care and department flow.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification (or completion of first-year nursing clinical with validation), and BLS.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification or completion of first year nursing clinical with validation is required.
• BLS certification is required (obtain within 30 days if not already certified).
• Data entry and computer experience are preferred.
• Previous laboratory or customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Functions within the multidisciplinary team under ED RN supervision.
• Demonstrates excellent communication and coordination of patient care and department flow.
• Maintains work area and computer systems for assigned duties.
• Collects, processes, transports and analyzes specimens per lab policies and procedures.

Emergency Department I Lexington, KY

An Emergency department (ED) that provides 24-hour emergency care to patients who need urgent medical attention for severe injuries or illness.

Description:

• The Nursing Assistant II (Emergency Department Technician) functions within the multidisciplinary team that cares for the ED patient under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse.
• Demonstrates excellent communication and coordination of patient care/department flow.
• Working knowledge of appropriate computer functions and systems for assigned duties.
• Maintains work area to ensure efficient operation and workflow.
• Collects, process, transports and analyzes specimens according to approved standards of testing per laboratory policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates proficiency in patient care, according to hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or successful completion of first year clinical classes in nursing school and validation of a clinical consistent with level of education.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
• Previous laboratory or customer service experience preferred.
• Data entry and computer experience and /or phlebotomy, point of care testing experience preferred.
