Job summary

Baptist Health ER & Urgent Care - Georgetown is seeking a Nursing Assistant II (Emergency Department Technician) to support the ED team on the third shift. You will assist in patient care under RN guidance, maintain smooth department flow, and handle specimen collection and basic lab duties in a fast-paced ED setting.

Requirements include Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification or clinical completion, BLS within 30 days, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification or completion of first year clinicals with validation.
• BLS certification required with 30 days to obtain if not already held.
• Laboratory or customer service experience preferred.
• Data entry and computer skills and/or phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the ED team under the supervision of the RN.
• Demonstrate communication and coordinate patient care flow.
• Use hospital computer systems for assigned duties.
• Maintain work area for efficient operation and workflow.
• Collect, process, transport and analyze specimens per policy.
• Provide patient care per hospital procedures.

Description:

• The Nursing Assistant II (Emergency Department Technician) functions within the multidisciplinary team that cares for the ED patient under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse.
• Demonstrates excellent communication and coordination of patient care/department flow.
• Working knowledge of appropriate computer functions and systems for assigned duties.
• Maintains work area to ensure efficient operation and workflow.
• Collects, process, transports and analyzes specimens according to approved standards of testing per laboratory policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates proficiency in patient care, according to hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or successful completion of first year clinical classes in nursing school and validation of a clinical consistent with level of education.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
• Previous laboratory or customer service experience preferred.
• Data entry and computer experience and /or phlebotomy, point of care testing experience preferred.
