Job summary

Bladen Hospital in Elizabethtown, North Carolina is seeking an ED Access Representative in the Patient Registration department. You will register all patients in the adult and pediatric emergency departments, completing the registration process for emergency patients and direct admits sent to the ED.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• College courses in Business, Medical Office Administration, Health Care Administration, and/or Computer Technology preferred.
• 2 years insurance/clerical experience within a hospital or medical office setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Registers emergency service patients in a fast-paced environment, creating patient accounts within 90 seconds of arrival.
• Queries EAD and enters accurate patient demographics to obtain correct MRN and account numbers.
• Responsible for placing patient identification armbands on ED patients after accounts are created for patient safety.
• Obtains all demographic, guarantor, and insurance information and documents it accurately in the registration system.
• Informs patient/guarantor of liabilities and collects co-pays, co-insurances, deductibles, and deposits at discharge.
