Job summary

Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital is seeking a full-time, 7:00 pm to 7:30 am nurse or support staff member for the Emergency Department. The role rotates every third weekend (Friday and Saturday night) and holidays, with a 36-hour workweek and a night shift schedule, located in Barrington, IL.

Responsibilities include coordinating tests across departments, maintaining familiarity with EMR and hospital systems, processing daily charges, and ensuring accurate patient demographics and admissions

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED/HSED required.
• Prefers medical terminology experience or health care experience.
• Ability to coordinate tests and treatments across departments.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates tests and treatments with and between various departments for patients on nursing units.
• Maintains working knowledge of functions and services offered by all diagnostic and treatment departments to facilitate scheduling of tests and treatments.
• Facilitates communications required to support patient care including multiple-line telephone, unit/site paging and hospital information system.
• Screens incoming telephone calls and monitors department office equipment.
• Maintains EMR system knowledge and processes daily patient charges through the system.
• Compiles necessary chart forms for admissions, transfers, discharges and expirations; obtains copies of medical records for transfers.
• Verifies patient demographics and registration in the medical record; ensures age-appropriate care as per policies.
• Establishes and maintains positive customer relations and fosters communication within the health care team.
