Job summary

Mosaic Life Care in Saint Joseph, MO is seeking an E.D. Access Representative to greet patients, register them accurately online, and support front-desk operations under the supervision of the Manager.

The role requires basic education (HS diploma or GED) and strong typing (35 wpm). Healthcare exposure is preferred; BLS must be completed within 90 days. The position offers on-site work with travel between system facilities as needed.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Medical terminology course preferred.
• Typing 35 wpm required.
• 1 year customer service/medical office experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Registers or activates patient accounts timely and accurately, updating if necessary to ensure the integrity of the database, registers medical center outpatient, lab specimens, and emergency room patients.
• Obtains appropriate signatures for Hospital Consent to Treat, Assignment of Insurance Benefits, Notice of Privacy Practice if applicable, Insurance pre-certification arrangements and financial responsibility, contacting family, legal guardian, DPOA, or appropriate person when necessary for consent to treat.
• Must have knowledge of Medicare and commercial insurance requirements to determine primary and secondary payor information. Distributes Medicare Important Message as required by PRO Review. Provide Medicaid recipients and financial assistance applicants with appropriate financial assistance information.
• Routes patients to ensure proper tests are completed in the correct order to guard against treatment delay. Escorts patients and/or family to ancillary departments.
• Verifies Insurance Eligibility on every patient encounter. Collects deductibles and co-pay amounts from patients upon admission.
• Assures confidentiality of information regarding patients, hospital personnel and medical staff.
• Will have bi-weekly standby shift.
• Attends departmental meetings/in-services.
• Complies with all departmental standards regarding attendance/performance and acts as a role model for fellow staff members.
• Other duties as assigned
