Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas West in Nashville, TN is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to perform complex diagnostic echocardiography, skillfully maneuvering transducers and selecting precise parameters to capture clear clinical images.

You will guide patients through exams, identify critical pathologies in real time, and provide data to radiologists for life‑saving diagnoses, while maintaining a safe, empathetic environment and strict safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 30 days of hire.
• Cardiographic Tech credential from CCI within 6 months.
• ARRT Sonography credential within 6 months.
• ARDMS Cardiac Sonographer credential within 6 months.
• ARDMS Medical Sonographer credential within 6 months.
• CCI Cardiac Sonography credential within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex diagnostic imaging studies by skillfully maneuvering transducers and selecting precise parameters to capture clear clinical images.
• Identify critical pathologies and anatomical structures in real time to provide radiologists with high-quality data for diagnoses.
• Guide patients through exams with comfortable positioning and clear communication while maintaining safety and empathy.
• Optimize the diagnostic workflow by validating image quality and patient history in PACS for immediate access to records.
• Uphold rigorous safety and quality standards to ensure regulatory compliance and patient protection.

Education

BLS Provider certification within 30 days

Cardiographic Tech credentialed from CCI within 6 months

Radiologic Technologist specializing in Sonography credentialed from ARRT within 6 months

Cardiac Sonographer credentialed from ARDMS within 6 months

Medical Sonographer credentialed from ARDMS within 6 months

Sonography Tech specializing in Cardiac credentialed from CCI within 6 months

High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable experience

• Perform complex diagnostic imaging studies by skillfully maneuvering transducers and selecting precise technical parameters to capture the clearest possible clinical picture.

• Identify critical pathologies and anatomical structures in real-time to provide radiologists with the high-quality data necessary for life‑saving diagnoses.

• Guide patients through their exams by ensuring comfortable positioning and clear communication, maintaining a safe and empathetic environment throughout the procedure.

• Optimize the diagnostic workflow by meticulously validating image quality and patient history in PACS, ensuring the medical team has immediate access to accurate records.

• Uphold rigorous safety and quality control standards to ensure every procedure complies with regulatory requirements and provides the highest level of patient protection.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• One or more of the following required:

• Cardiographic Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

• Radiologic Technologist specializing in Sonography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

• Cardiac Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

• Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

• Sonography Tech specializing in Cardiac credentialed from the Cardiovascular CredentialingInternational (CCI) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
