Job summary

Goodwill Houston is seeking an eBooks Clerk to support the Donated Goods Program. You will sort, describe, and catalog donated books and media, update online listings, and assist store customers with a friendly, helpful attitude.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, strong written English, and reliable transportation. This is a fast-paced, physical role requiring lifting up to 40 lbs and occasional 100 lbs, with safety and loss-prevention standards observed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Excellent writing, grammar, and editing skills.
• Reliable transportation.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. GWH does not offer visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Sort, process, and scan merchandise into assigned programs.
• Receive and process items in a timely manner.
• Visually inspect and separate items by category such as recyclable, sellable (in a store), sellable (online), and others as designated by the Manager.
• Write a description of the book explaining the condition of the book.
• Categorize books on the appropriate shelf.
• Maintain stock in the store by removing items from shelves and stored areas as per the manager’s request.
• Deliver and retrieve items to and from departments by hand or using pushcarts.
• List qualifying books/media to online platforms via internal listing software.
• Move items to proper storage areas.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Assist with the security and safety of GWH Team Members and property.
• Perform necessary janitorial work.
• Provide feedback to management regarding production and increasing efficiency.
• Must report all work incidents and injuries immediately.
• Assist other departments as needed.
• Perform other duties as directed by management to support evolving organizational needs.
