Job Summary
Under general direction, provides customer service by greeting customers, answering multi‑line telephone calls, taking messages, and responding to inquiries. This position requires a driver’s license.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide customer service by accessing patron information, receiving money, and assisting with inquiries regarding programming or facility usage.
- Perform facility maintenance and set up, and respond to issues such as cleanliness or other problems.
- Negotiate patron account information, apply policies and procedures, perform standard data entry tasks, and coordinate and schedule programs.
Other Job Functions
- Work with various organizations, individuals, and other departments to accommodate needs for facility access, program information, or a facility orientation.
- Collaborate with vendors and outside agencies to accommodate facility access and program requirements.
- Coordinate scheduling via the online room reservation and rental system.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of modern office methods, practices, and equipment.
- Knowledge of facility management to ensure a safe and productive experience for users.
- Knowledge of print sources, online catalogs, databases, and remote information access sources.
- Knowledge of how materials and information sources are organized.
- Ability to apply appropriate interpersonal skills with the public and city staff to maintain positive relations.
- Ability to learn and apply computer skills to register customers, maintain site records and accounts while using discretion with customer information.
- Ability to demonstrate effective organization skills for record‑keeping, filing, and coordination of a heavily used public facility.
- Ability to perform a variety of physical tasks including seeing, sorting, typing, pulling, pushing, and lifting.
- Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer terminal, fax machine, multi‑line telephone, scanners, and calculator.
- Ability to drive a motorised vehicle.
- Skill in simple arithmetic calculations.
- Skill in cash register use and handling money and balancing accounts.
- Skill in analysing information needs with careful attention to detail.
Educational and Experience Requirements
- Some college plus one year of related customer‑service experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bilingual background and one year of college education preferred.
- Possession of a valid Texas Operator’s License, Class C.
