Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Access Specialist in New Jersey. The role involves greeting patients, handling scheduling, pre-registration, and insurance verification within the Patient Access Services Department.

You will ensure accurate demographics, assist with eligibility, and support financial clearance under supervision. The position requires a High School diploma or GED, weekend/holiday flexibility, and strong customer service and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; additional education preferred.
• Ability to work rotating schedules, including weekends/holidays.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Basic computer skills; experience with Epic software a plus.
• Ability to work every other weekend.
• Flexibility to work shifts starting 5:30am or 7:00am.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors in person or by phone.
• Perform scheduling, pre-registration, and insurance verification.
• Verify patient identity and eligibility with Medicare/Medicaid.
• Process registrations and bed planning where applicable.
• Obtain required consents and signatures.
• Navigate Epic systems and ensure timely data entry.
• Support financial clearance and upfront cash collection when appropriate.
• Maintain compliance with regulations and hospital policies.
