Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. seeks a dock worker to move freight across the dock area to and from trailers, supporting loading and securing loads for transport.

The role requires basic math, the ability to lift heavy pallets up to around 100 pounds and operate equipment in a fast-paced environment. Starting pay is $21.78 per hour, with a range up to $25.49, and a 0400–0900 shift, with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling or forklift experience preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight up to ~100 pounds, dock plates ~75 pounds, several times daily.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform freight handling using motorized/manual equipment including forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description using current system.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets/straps/rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
