Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers for loading. Starting pay is $21.78 per hour with shifts 0500–1000.

The role involves operating forklifts and pallet jacks, verifying freight documents, and securing cargo for safe trailer loading. Ideal candidates will have basic math and communication skills, prior warehousing or forklift experience, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds and work in a dock environment with varying weather.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift operations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Operate forklift, pallet jack and hand truck as needed.
• Verify documentation matches freight description (type, weight, haz mat).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
