Job summary

Sullivan University is hiring a full-time Early Morning Baker at The Bakery. The role involves baking a variety of goods, including pastries, breads, rolls, and desserts, with emphasis on quality and presentation. The candidate should be passionate about baking and maintain cleanliness and efficiency in a busy kitchen.

Typical hours are Tuesday–Friday 3:30 am–11:30 am and Saturday 4:30 am–9:30 am, with Saturdays required. Flexibility for early mornings, weekends, and holidays is essential.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• 1-3 years of previous experience in from-scratch baking, pastry, or restaurant setting.
• Equivalent education/experience may be considered.
• Experience with cake decoration techniques is beneficial.
• Experience in high-volume production environments.
• Familiarity with professional kitchen equipment (mixer, blender, dough sheeter).
• Food safety knowledge recommended; obtain Food Handler's certificate if needed.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Excellent time management and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and follow recipes accurately.
• Flexibility for early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Decision-making and adaptability.

The ideal candidate will possess a passion for baking, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness in the kitchen. This role involves using icing, glazes, fillings, and decorations to enhance the presentation of baked items with efficiency and care.

Hours for this position are Tuesday- Friday 3:30 am-11:30 am and Saturday 4:30 am-9:30 am (Saturdays Required)

• A Food Handler's Certificate/Card is not required but recommended or must be obtained within a specified time frame.
• Ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) and stand for long periods.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
• Proficient in reading and accurately following recipes.
• Flexibility, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• Good planning and organizational skills.
