Job summary

Responsibilities

• Produce standard baked goods such as cakes, cookies, biscuits, muffins, and puddings.
• Assist in developing new recipes and menu items when applicable.
• Unload, clean, and operate mixers.
• Maintain daily production and sanitation records to ensure procedures are met.
• Assist with cleaning the kitchen and maintaining a sanitary work area.
• Meet HACCP sanitation and safety standards.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to meet production deadlines.
• Perform other duties as required.

Great Western Dining at our Southeast Community College – Lincoln location is looking for a skilled and passionate baker to prepare a wide range of baked goods including breads, pastries, cookies, and specialty items. The ideal candidate will have experience in baking techniques, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and cleanliness. This role requires early morning shifts and the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.

Schedule

Full Time, Monday to Friday 7:00 am – 3:00 pm

Responsibilities

• Produce standard baked goods such as cakes, cookies, biscuits, muffins, and various types of puddings
• Assist in developing new recipes and menu items when applicable
• Unload, clean, and operate mixers
• Maintain all daily production, sanitation sheets, and applicable forms to ensure all procedures are met
• Assist with cleaning the kitchen and maintaining a sanitary work area
• Meet or exceed all established HACCP sanitation and safety standards
• Work collaboratively with other kitchen or bakery staff to meet production deadlines
• Perform other duties as required and assigned

Skills and Qualifications

• One to two years as a baker or a bakery background preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent; formal culinary or baking training preferred
• Knowledge of yeasts and other pre-ferments encouraged
• Customer‑service oriented and enjoy working in a student‑oriented environment
• Dependable and reliable
• Ability to make desserts from scratch
• Experienced in production line baking or food processing
• Knowledgeable about proper food handling and safety guidelines
• Detail oriented with the ability to perform simple mathematical calculations and follow directions for equipment and recipe production

Physical Requirements

• Continuous walking and other means of mobility
• Move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing up to 75 pounds without assistance
• Stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time
