Job summary

Arup in San Francisco seeks a Graduate Cost Advisory Consultant to support infrastructure cost estimates, risk modelling, and value engineering across diverse programs. You will work with designers, clients, and project stakeholders to gather data, perform take-offs, and develop cost analyses.

The role emphasizes quantitative analysis, MS Excel proficiency, and the ability to communicate findings clearly in reports and presentations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Economics, Business or Finance, or similar with coursework in Engineering, Economics, Business and/or applied math/sciences.
• Strong interest in built environment and infrastructure project development/delivery and/or operations.
• Passion for projects that incorporate sustainability, resilience, and equity.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills crucial for team-based working.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Aid in consultation with stakeholders on delivery of infrastructure projects (rail, airports, roads, etc.).
• Collaborate with design professionals to understand scope and impact of projects.
• Prepare analyses such as construction cost estimates, schedules, risk models, life cycle cost assessments.
• Develop high-level and detailed construction cost estimates using top-down and bottoms-up methods.
• Evaluate risks and opportunities by collaborating with clients and experts.
• Read and take-offs from design documents, drawings, and blueprints.
• Develop reports and presentations to communicate findings to clients.
