Job summary

AIG is seeking an Underwriting Team Lead in the United States. The role focuses on leading a team of underwriters in Commercial E&S, underwriting across primary, shared, and excess structures, and shaping regional strategy.

You will mentor underwriters and collaborate with wholesale brokers to grow and manage risk. We value expertise in CAT modeling (OEP/AEP, TvAR, AAL, TCPs), ISO forms, and strong leadership to drive results.

Qualifications

• An insurance professional with a minimum of 5 years of Commercial E&S underwriting experience.
• Proven ability to underwrite across E&S with leadership to a team while maintaining a balanced portfolio.
• Established relationships within the territory’s wholesale brokerage community.
• Prior team leadership or mentoring experience.
• Strong knowledge of CAT modeling, including OEP/AEP, TvAR, AAL, and Catastrophic Technical Premiums (TCPs).
• Clear understanding of ISO form usage.
• Ability to influence, motivate, and drive results while balancing underwriting discipline.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite property risks across E&S, providing leadership and technical guidance to the team.
• Manage a balanced portfolio across primary, excess, and layered placements.
• Underwrite 100% primary/shared and excess structures as needed.
• Shape strategy with regional leadership and foster a high-performing culture.
• Underwrite risks to grow the E&S portfolio while supporting team production goals.
• Collaborate with internal colleagues and maintain relationships with wholesale partners.
• Review and negotiate manuscript form wordings and coverages.
• Lead, coach, mentor, and develop underwriters in the zone.
• Assist with portfolio management, talent development, and regional objectives.
