Job summary

AIG in Chicago, IL seeks a Senior Executive Underwriter to lead the Excess Casualty team and drive growth. You will guide pricing, review complex submissions, and mentor underwriters while collaborating with brokers.

The role requires deep NA Excess Casualty knowledge, strong communication, and a proven ability to build lasting client relationships, all while delivering results in a dynamic market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
• Advanced working knowledge of NA Excess Casualty products and related risks.
• Demonstrated sales, marketing, and relationship-building experience.
• Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly motivated and results-oriented.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment, collaborating with colleagues to deliver solutions.
• Willingness to be flexible, learn on the job, and maintain a can-do attitude.
• Comfort with analytical tools and technology.

Responsibilities

• Perform highly technical and complex assignments within area of expertise.
• Provide technical direction to management, less senior specialists, producers, and claims adjusting personnel.
• Be responsible for underwriting NA Excess Casualty products.
• Accept, decline, or modify new and renewal submissions submitted by brokers.
• Identify exposures and analysis required to underwrite an account and determine coverage and exposure.
• Manage a book of business and participate in budgeting for regional goals.
• Collaborate with distribution, territory managers, and other underwriters to target desirable accounts and cross-sell.
• Develop pricing and negotiation strategy and deal structures with brokers and clients.
• May review underwriting guidelines and participate in special projects.
• Develop long-term relationships with brokers and clients to grow the book of business.
• Provide superior customer service to brokers and clients.
• Draft manuscript endorsements for underwriting exposures as needed.
