Job summary

L & S Electric, Inc. is seeking an E&M Technician to inspect, diagnose, repair, reassemble, and test rotating electrical equipment across shop and field settings.

You will work on motors, generators, and related machinery, applying mechanical, electrical, and metrological skills to restore equipment to OEM or better condition. The role requires 3+ years in rotating equipment repair, strong reading of schematics, and the ability to travel for field service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; tech school or military training in electromechanical systems preferred.
• 3+ years in rotating electrical apparatus repair or industrial electromechanical maintenance.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of precision rotating equipment.
• Read/interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and manuals.
• Proficiency with common shop tools and measuring instruments.
• Understanding of insulation systems, bearings, lubrication, balancing, and vibration fundamentals.
• Ability to travel for field service as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, condition assessments, and failure analysis on motors, generators, rotors, stators, bearings, shafts.
• Disassemble, clean, inspect, and document equipment condition using checklists.
• Carry out mechanical repairs including reassembly, bearing replacement, balancing, and testing.
• Interpret drawings and winding data to determine repair scope.
• Take precise measurements and geometric checks using metrology tools.
• Document work, prepare repair reports and client documentation.
• Follow quality procedures and safety standards (IEEE, EASA, NEMA).
• Maintain organized work area and care for tools and equipment.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers on large projects.
• Comply with lockout/tagout and environmental safety rules.
