Location Description

Located in Gaylord, Minnesota, Michael Foods, Inc. is in Minnesota's Healthy Heartland. Gaylord is in south-central Minnesota, about an hour west of the Twin Cities and 35 minutes from Mankato, Hutchinson, and New Ulm. As the County Seat, Gaylord is known as the "Hub of Sibley County." Our facility produces liquid egg, hard-cooked egg, and pre-cooked egg products such as scrambled eggs, patties, and omelets.

Responsibilities

Summary: The E & I Technician (Electrical & Instrumentation Technician) provides electrical maintenance and reliability services within the plant, focusing on asset health and safety improvements. This role involves collaborating with the MFI ARM team, maintenance staff, operations, suppliers, and other support teams to ensure success. Key responsibilities include executing electrical/instrumentation PM, PDM, RCM, and operator care programs, as well as equipment installation, troubleshooting, startups, and process improvements. The technician must maintain current licensure (e.g., Electrical Journeyman or Maintenance Electrician) and adhere to safety and food safety policies, working scheduled hours including weekends and holidays as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Participate in electrical/instrumentation maintenance to improve safety, quality, delivery, and costs, contributing to the MFI & ARM culture.
  2. Develop and implement Precision Maintenance techniques, ensuring compliance and job tolerance adherence.
  3. Identify and execute electrical/instrumentation performance improvement projects.
  4. Collaborate with the Corporate Reliability Team to develop real-time condition assessment data for critical equipment.
  5. Participate in training for electrical/instrumentation maintenance personnel.
  6. Manage critical spares and parts following reliability procedures.
  7. Support quality commissioning for new or rebuilt electrical/instrumentation equipment.
  8. Work with vendors on electrical/instrumentation issues identified through root cause analysis and maintenance programs.
  9. Assist in electrical/instrumentation troubleshooting and maintenance, supporting other personnel.
  10. Utilize CMMS to document and support reliability reporting, following MFI ARM standards.
  11. Maintain accurate records (SAP, regulatory documentation, etc.).
  12. Contribute to root cause analysis and continuous asset reliability improvement.
  13. Maintain licensure (e.g., Journeyman or Maintenance Electrician) and demonstrate NEC code knowledge.
  14. Promote safety, quality work practices, GMPs, and food safety standards.
  15. Ensure regulatory compliance and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED; technical degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of maintenance electrician experience, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Electrical license or certification required; journeyman level NEC knowledge preferred.
  • Understanding of schematics, blueprints, PLCs, and automation preferred.
  • Experience with SAP is a plus.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to talk, listen, stand, walk, and lift up to 60 pounds. Visual and sensory abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception. The environment may be noisy and temperature-variable. Accommodations can be provided for disabilities.

The pay range for this position is $27.00 to $37.25 per hour.
