Position Summary

Are you mechanically inclined with a knack for hands-on work? Do you enjoy a flexible schedule and working independently, but also have the support of a team? The Equipment Service Technician is a remote-based, customer-facing employee, primarily working inside hospitals. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing medical equipment.

Individuals with experience in HVAC repair, mechanics, maintenance, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, equipment repair, diesel and automotive repair, aviation repair, plumbing, electrical, etc., are often successful.

This is a remote-based, customer-facing position. To support and service our customers in this assigned territory, candidates must be based out of one of the following states: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Indiana, Illinois, Nebraska.

This is a floating position requiring heavy travel, up to 75% of the time. Overnight travel Monday – Friday, including some weekends as needed, is expected. The incumbent will travel within Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Indiana, Illinois, Nebraska.

What you'll do as an Equipment Service Technician

• Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of STERIS and competitor equipment, systems, and components.
• Manage time effectively by prioritizing customer and business needs independently to complete preventive maintenance, service calls, warranty calls, equipment installations, field upgrade programs, and other duties.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Tech Support, Engineering, Service Contract Management) to escalate issues and utilize advanced technology platforms for compliance, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Provide customers with information, pricing, and repair options. Build relationships with sales to enhance customer experience and identify sales opportunities within the territory.
• Support various locations within the assigned territory based on service agreements and customer needs.

The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed

Required:

• High school diploma or GED with 4+ years of relevant work experience, including 2 years in a mechanical/technical role. Certifications, military experience, or related education may be considered.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background and physical requirements for credentialing.
• Customer and team engagement experience.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Basic computer skills (Windows, email, mobile apps, data entry into multiple systems).
• Flexibility for schedules involving overnight stays, early/late hours, based on needs.

Pay range: $47,750.00 - $66,937.50, plus potential bonuses. Pay rates depend on experience, education, certifications, and other factors.
