Job summary

IDEA Public Schools in Texas seeks a Special Education teacher to support students with a wide range of disabilities. You will develop IEPs, deliver targeted instruction in reading, writing, and math, and collaborate with families to ensure continuity between home and school.

The role requires a Bachelor’s, Texas certification, and a commitment to equity in education. Competitive compensation includes stipends for certifications and opportunities for additional pay for after-school tutoring.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college.
• Experience in a Special Education classroom preferred.
• Valid Texas state certification in Special Education required.

Responsibilities

• Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students.
• Develop IEPs for a caseload of students.
• Implement IEPs, assess progress and track performance.
• Update IEPs to reflect progress and goals.
• Teach small groups including students at risk in reading and math.
• Collect and analyze student data to maximize achievement.
• Communicate progress with families weekly.
• Host tutoring sessions as needed.
• Participate in weekly meetings and after-school duties.
• Engage in ongoing professional development.
