Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant-Special Education to support teachers and implement IEP-related activities across elementary, middle, or high school settings. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, and for Title I contexts, coursework in early childhood education or related work experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Six documented semester hours of coursework in early childhood education, OR Two years of work experience in an early childhood setting.
• Maintain a CPI (Crisis Prevention and Intervention) certification; CPI training provided by Wake County Public School System if needed.
• FERPA compliance and confidentiality of student information as per laws and policies.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to teachers in coordinating instructional programs for students with special needs.
• Assists with strategies related to implementing students’ behavioral intervention plans.
• Helps plan and organize instructional activities and prepare materials.
• Maintains confidentiality of records and reports.
• Participates in district staff development for ongoing growth.
• Assists with student transitions between classes and with health care needs as required.
