Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools in Tacoma, WA is seeking a replacement classroom teacher starting September 1, 2026. This 1.0 FTE position is a 7.5-hour day role for the 2026-2027 school year with full benefits offered.

Salary ranges from $75,462 (BA+0 step 1) to $147,998 (MA+90 step 20) per year, based on preparation level and experience under the TEA Agreement. This role requires a valid WA teaching certificate and completion of required trainings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with appropriate educational endorsement or equivalent experience.
• Valid Washington State teaching certificate.
• Completion of required district trainings and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Develops an engaging program of study based on student needs and uses varied instructional techniques.
• Assesses student growth regularly and reports progress with appropriate grades.
• Supports district curricula and policies, fosters student learning and conduct.
• Prepares differentiated lesson plans with clear objectives and aligned materials.
• Maintains open communication with students, families and colleagues about progress.
• Maintains records and uses assessments to inform instruction and growth rubrics.
• Ensures safety, supervises students and utilizes community resources to enhance learning.
