Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a qualified teacher replacement for the 2026-2027 school year. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and a valid Washington State teaching certificate.

The position is 1.0 FTE with 7.5 hours per day, starting as soon as possible and ending January 4, 2026, or until the employee returns from leave. The teacher will design engaging lessons, assess student progress, communicate with families, and support district curriculum and initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university with endorsement; or equivalent experience.
• Valid Washington State teaching certificate.
• Knowledge of Washington state and federal education rules and regulations.
• Experience with formative and summative assessments.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons aligned to district and state standards.
• Assess student growth and provide progress reports.
• Maintain classroom environment and behavior management.
• Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
• Collaborate with staff and participate in school program development.
• Maintain accurate student records and data for evaluation.
• Attend staff meetings and participate on committees.
