Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a replacement teacher for the 2026-2027 year, or until the current employee returns. Expected start is as soon as possible with 1.0 FTE (7.5 hours per day). The salary range is $75,462 to $147,998 according to the TEA contract, with full benefits offered.

The position involves planning engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and aligning instruction to state standards while maintaining professional communication with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with a valid educational endorsement or equivalent experience.
• Valid Washington State teaching certificate.
• Fingerprints and background clearance.
• Knowledge of Washington State and Federal rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develops and plans a graded program of study aligned to student needs using varied instructional approaches.
• Assesses student growth regularly and provides progress reports; conducts referrals for evaluation as needed.
• Implements district philosophy, policies, and rules; manages classroom behavior with fairness.
• Prepares detailed lesson plans; differentiates instruction and aligns materials to objectives.
• Maintains open communication with students, parents, and staff; conducts conferences as needed.
• Maintains accurate records; uses formative/summative data to adjust instruction and track growth.
• Supervises students and ensures safety; utilizes community resources to enhance learning.
