Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a teacher for a replacement contract for the 2026-2027 school year. The position is a full-time assignment, based on a BA+0 to MA+90 scale, with 7.5 hours per day and 182 workdays per year.

The anticipated end date is January 3, 2026, or until the leave ends, whichever comes first. The role focuses on planning and delivering instruction, assessing student progress, and aligning with district and state curriculum, policies, and initiatives for student achievement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with appropriate educational endorsement.
• Experience meeting district and state requirements for teacher evaluation and student achievement.

Responsibilities

• Develops a program of study based on students' learning needs and abilities.
• Assesses student growth and provides progress reports; assigns grades reflecting achievement.
• Supports district curriculum, policies, and initiatives for student achievement.
• Prepares lesson plans and differentiates instruction to meet diverse learners.
• Maintains open communication with students, parents, and staff; conducts conferences.
• Maintains accurate records and uses data to inform instruction; tracks student growth.
