Job summary

NC State University’s Dining Talley is seeking a Food Service Supervisor to manage daily operations, lead front-line staff during peak service, ensure food quality, service standards, and a safe, welcoming dining environment for students and faculty.

You will supervise shifts, handle planning, forecasting, ordering, budgeting, and staff development; ensure health codes and sanitation; participate in recruitment and training; and foster teamwork to deliver excellent dining experiences.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in food preparation or service activities in a commercial kitchen, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• ServSafe certification or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operational Leadership: Supervise unit daily, ensuring all brand standards for food quality, drink preparation, and customer service are strictly maintained.
• Peak Performance: Lead by example by directing service flow and supporting the team during the busiest dining hours.
• Administrative Support: Handle essential business functions including planning, forecasting, ordering, and budgeting.
• Team Development: Hire, train, assign tasks, coach, and provide constructive feedback to employees. Foster a culture of team building and professional growth.
• Systems & Safety: Utilize menu management system and ensure operation complies with health codes, sanitation standards, and safety regulations.
• Problem Solving: Address and resolve routine operational challenges and customer concerns with professionalism and poise.
