Job summary

Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) is seeking a Child and Youth Program Leader to provide direct care and instruction for ages 6 weeks to 18 years, mentor CY Program Assistants, and ensure program quality per DoD standards. The role emphasizes curriculum development, activity planning, and compliance across multiple program areas, with strong emphasis on safety and staff guidance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate programs for 6 weeks to 18 years.
• Knowledge of child and youth development principles and techniques.
• Ability to apply federal/state laws on child abuse prevention.
• Ability to understand interests and motivation of individuals/groups in CYPs.
• Skill in program planning, organizing, and employee scheduling.
• Ability to provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to CY Program staff.
• Ability to identify and respond to emergencies.
• Ability to train employees on issues including illnesses and child abuse.
• Ability to develop curriculum outlines and lesson plans.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written).
• One year of CY-02 level experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Mentor CY Program Assistant team and translate training into practice.
• Plan activities based on observed needs; adjust plans as required.
• Maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and equipment.
• Supervise program participants in daily activities and field trips.
• Communicate with parents, employees, and installation staff.
• Assess developmental progression and document concerns.
• Ensure compliance with DoD certification and local policies.
