Job summary

Navy Region Northwest Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) seeks a Child and Youth Program (CYP) Leader to provide direct care and instruction for children and youth (6 weeks–18 years) and to mentor CY Program Assistants. The role requires coordinating activities, ensuring safety, and maintaining compliance with DoD and local standards.

The incumbent mentors staff, develops curriculum, and engages families while promoting positive development in a structured, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate programs for 6 weeks to 18 years.
• Knowledge of child and youth development principles and practices.
• Skills to apply Federal and State laws for child abuse prevention.
• Ability to identify interests and motivations in a CYP environment.
• Skill in program planning, organizing, and employee scheduling.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and guide CY Program staff.
• Ability to identify and respond to emergencies.
• Ability to train employees on topics like child illnesses and safety.
• Ability to develop curriculum outlines and lesson plans/guides.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing.
• One year of CY-02 level experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Mentor CY Program Assistants and translate training into practice.
• Plan activities meeting children and youth needs across physical, social, emotional, and cognitive domains.
• Prepare displays and arrange snacks or meals when applicable.
• Supervise children and youth to ensure safety and compliance with policies.
• Communicate with parents, staff, and installation personnel.
• Observe and document developmental progress and plan interventions.
• Ensure DoD certification and national accreditation compliance.
