Job summary

Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) seeks an experienced Child and Youth Program Leader to provide specialized care and instruction for children from 6 weeks to 18 years across CY programs. The role includes mentoring CY Program Assistants and guiding staff under supervision to ensure program quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate programs to meet physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs.
• Knowledge of child and youth development principles, practices and techniques.
• Skills to apply Federal and State laws governing the detection and prevention of child abuse and/or neglect.
• Ability to understand interests and motivation of individuals and groups in a CYP environment.
• Skill in program planning, organizing, and employee scheduling.
• Skills to provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to CY Program.
• Ability to identify and respond to emergency situations.
• Ability to train employees on topics including illness recognition and child abuse.
• Ability to develop curriculum outlines and lesson plans/guides.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Mentor CY Program Assistant team; train and guide lower-level staff.
• Plan activities for participants based on observed needs; collaborate with T&C Specialist.
• Prepare and maintain indoor/outdoor spaces; manage supplies and displays.
• Foster positive interactions among children, youth, and adults.
• Provide care, supervision, and safety oversight; ensure proper sign-in/out.
• Communicate with parents and staff; participate in conferences.
• Observe and document developmental progress; assist with assessments.
• Ensure compliance with DoD certification and local policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned and review procedures for accuracy.
